Reading Wren July 15, 2006
Posted by thinkphd in : MGT5031 , trackbackI am working through Wren and hope to get a writing start on Assignment #2 today. I am still weighing possibilities for which industry to discuss. I did some research this week and have some ideas. I typically do congruent research as I am reading. This augments the learning from the text and helps me with historical perspective and balance.
One of the students in our MGT5031 class is actually a neighbor of mine. I use the term “neighbor” in the rural south Alabama tradition - she lives about 20 miles away~ For all you city folks, this is pretty close, in a distinctly rural sort of way.
Mom and Dad are doing just fine (thanks for asking!). They are apprehensive about Tuesday but I know that we will work through the details. Mom has been in a wheelchair for a few years but she still wants to stay the night at the hospital with Dad. I don’t know how that will work out but I will let you know.
On my plate today is the Wren reading and paper start. Plus all of the other things that make my life interesting…and complicated!

Hang in there. My mom just had a defibiluator put in last month. She had what your parents had done a few years back. Mom is doing great and I wish the same for yours.
I go to NCU and just started my blog here too. Keep plugging away with NCU. You won’t regret it. I moved from Montgomery, AL to Philly (thanks to the Navy). Totally understand the “neighbor” thing.
Hi Christie, Thanks for stopping by and dropping a note of encouragement! Send me your blog link and I will post it under the blogroll. Good luck with your studies!
Cindy-
I too, am a PhD Learner at NCU majoring in Computer Information Security. I am only on my fourth class; but I can tell you do not get discouraged, you are making a tremendous investment in your future.
The monthly starts have been absolutely invaluable, not being held by the standard term limits gives you the ability to complete courses at your own pace. I was averaging 6wks to complete my courses, of course this was due to the ability to obtain my syllabus 2/3 wks in advance of the monthly start. I have now decided to take two classes at once and boy what a challenge. Keep on goin’ we are all in this together.
See you at graduation!
Hey Don, Wow - you are mighty brave - two course at once! I think you will get to graduation wa-a-a-y before I do….
